Online Assessment – Definition, Benefits, and Use in Hiring & Training

What is Online Assessment?

Onboarding Checklist is like a newbie’s survival kit for their first days at work—it’s a step-by-step to-do list that ensures they don’t drown in paperwork, forget their login passwords, or accidentally microwave fish in the office kitchen. It covers essentials like “sign these forms,” “meet your team,” “set up your email,” “watch the ‘don’t-embarrass-yourself’ training videos,” and “here’s where the good coffee is hidden.” It’s the company’s way of saying, “We’ve got your back,” turning first-day jitters into a smooth(ish) glide into the job. No guesswork, no awkward “uh, what now?” moments—just a clear path from “newbie” to “I kinda know what I’m doing.” (Bonus: Avoids the “I missed 17 emails about the printer code” meltdown.)

Types of Online Assessment

Online assessments can be classified into various forms depending on their objectives and framework. Some of the commonly used ones include:
  • Formative Assessments: These tests are conducted during the learning process to respond and track progress. They help a student recognize the fields for improvement and provide better understanding of knowledge and skills to evaluate before more formal assessment.
  • Summative Assessments: Candidate is conducted at the end of a course, training, or module for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the candidate. This type of assessment helps to measure the student’s success against the objectives of the above mentioned learning.
  • Diagnostic Assessments: These are the evaluation equipment that is used to determine the existing knowledge, skills and skills of the respondent before starting a new learning attempt.
